Ming-Wen Chang Optical Technology Award
The Purpose of the Ming-Wen Chang Optical Technology Award is to commemorate the former president Dr. Ming-Wen Chang and continue his contributions to optical engineering in Taiwan, the Society has established this award to recognize outstanding young scholars or engineers who have demonstrated exceptional research performance in optical engineering. This encompasses fields such as optical information processing, holographic optics, optical design, optical inspection, optical systems, imaging optics, and crystal optics.
Awarding Criteria
The elected individual will receive a certificate along with a prize of NT$50,000. The outstanding achievements of the awardees will be publicly announced in the TPS Optical Engineering Journal.
Eligibility for Application
The applicant must be a individual member of the Society, aged 50 or below 50 years old, who has demonstrated remarkable achievements or made notable inventions in academic or engineering fields related to optical engineering to be eligible for this award. Applicants for this award in a given year may not apply for any other awards offered by our association during the same period.
Registration and Recommendation Procedure

- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Relevant publications or achievements in the field of optical engineering
- Supporting documents or evidence
- At least one (maximum of two) recommendation letter(s), of which at least one must be from a member of the Society recommending the applicant.
* All the aforementioned documents should be sent in hard copy to the TPS Taipei Office, and also provide an E-doc via Email. *

Submission Deadline
The deadline is August 31st, 2023, postmarked.
Evaluation Process
The Board of Directors of the Society recommend one Chief Assessor, who will invite three to seven Assessors to form the Assessment Panel during a board meeting. The Assessment Panel will be responsible for reviewing the applications. After consolidating the information, the Chief Assessor will report the assessment results during a joint meeting of the Board of Directors and Supervisors. Upon approval by the meeting, the recipient(s) will be announced, and the award presentation will take place at the TPS Annual General Assembly.

Implementation Method
These regulations shall be implemented after being approved by the Board of Directors and Supervisors of the Society and shall be amended in the same manner.
